Big Names Featured in Breakbulk Americas: The Digital Special

The Breakbulk Americas team will host a webinar series over the two days that were previously designated for Breakbulk Americas

October 21, 2020, HOUSTON—The Breakbulk Americas team will host a webinar series Nov. 3-4 in place of the Breakbulk Americas event, where cargo owners have connected with project cargo and breakbulk providers for more than 30 years. Speakers for the special include Fluor, Bechtel Corp., GE Renewables, NASA and Northrop Grumman, names that are recognizable around the world. Four sessions will be presented: Business Outlook, Offshore Wind Projects in the U.S., Are Remote Experts the Next Big Thing? and Space Cargo Logistics. All webinars are free and offer the opportunity to gain industry insight at a time when it’s not possible to meet in person.

Business Outlook for Key Sectors will be the first webinar on Tuesday morning, moderated by Mac Sullivan, Head of Technology and Digital Promotion for NNR Global Logistics and sponsored by MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company. On the panel are Raj Desai, Sr. VP Procurement and Contracts, Chief Commercial Strategist for Fluor, Richard Seeg, President at Intermarine Americas and Susan St. Germain, Director of Projects, LV Shipping.

After a short break, the outlook session will be followed by Offshore Wind Projects in the U.S., a new sector that holds “staggering” potential, according to energy expert Thomas Poulsen of Panticon who is a content adviser to Breakbulk. The webinar will be moderated by Dan Shreve, head of global wind energy research for analyst Wood Mackenzie.

The panel represents a sample offshore wind supply chain to provide viewers with opportunities by sector. Speakers are John O’Keefe, Head of Marine Affairs North America, Ørsted Energy; Joshua Skubon, Contract and Operations Manager, GE Renewables; Russell Williams, Director of Business Development, Tradepoint Atlantic; Brent Patterson, Regional Director, Blue Water Shipping; and Jonathan Zier, Manager, Business Development - Offshore Services, Crowley.

On Wednesday, the morning will start with one of Houston’s best-known innovation specialists, Stephen Spoljaric, Corporate Manager of Global Logistics for Bechtel. He has organized a panel to tackle the accelerating use of remote experts due to COVID regulation because it’s a trend that’s here to stay. Joining Spoljaric will be Jake Swanson, Global Head, EPC Project Sector - DGF Industrial Projects, DHL Industrial Projects; Capt. Andrew Kinsey, Senior Marine Risk Consultant, Allianz Risk Consulting; and Nathaniel Leis, Director of Safety, ATS Trucking.

The fourth webinar is based on a recent story in Breakbulk magazine “Prepare for Launch: Space-bound Project Cargoes Conquer Earthly Challenges,” and will feature Lara Kearney, Deputy Program Manager, Gateway Program, NASA Johnson Space Center; Jeff Bitner, Senior Transportation Analyst, Northrop Grumman; Ben Martin, Logistics and Inventory Manager, Spaceflight; and Peter Baldauf, Commercial Director, Volga-Dnepr, which is also the sponsor of this webinar.
